Advertising Columns

The design and development of the Advertising column was in response to Dundee City Councils determination to regulate the distribution and display of posters promoting entertainment, concerts etc.

As a design, the columns were developed with the following considerations:

  • The columns should be visually pleasing and unobtrusive.
  • The columns should adopt an image compatible to a variety of locations and architectural surroundings.
  • By adopting the ridged dome and finial detail, it was considered that, as a style, it represented almost classic architectural credibility.
  • As a structure, the columns were designed with strength and rigidity as paramount.
  • The ability to transport and locate on site with ease.
  • As a structure, the base can be secured and adjusted with ease to cope with a variety of surfaces and gradients.
  • Installation requires no more than location pegs, anchors, plus ballast, ensuring minimal surface scars.
  • As a surface area the column was measured to maximise the distribution of variation in poster formats.
  • On location, the column, dressed in a variety of colourful posters, promotes an image of order and of stimulating visual interest.
